It’s Time to Decide What Kinds of Development we Want

In Madison County, we’ve got a Board of Supervisors, a Department of Planning, Zoning, and Environmental Health, a Conservation Board, a Development Group, many City Councils, and other groups, formal and informal, who have ideas, visions, and varying degrees of influence into the future of our county.

When’s the last time we held any kind of event that pulled people together in a public forum to decide what direction we want to go? It’s been too long.

Adair County, right next door, has held public forums recently to allow interest groups and citizens to learn and to be heard. We should do the same, more frequently.

Ideally, our County leaders should welcome and enable opportunities to increase communication between citizens and their government. If elected, I will push for that.
